In 2027 the Laurentian Traveller features five outings to Laurentian hills including Mt Blanc (twice), Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Sommet Olympia & Ski La Réserve. The Laurentian Traveller also visits Mont Cascades, Mt Ste-Marie & Calabogie Peaks. This itinerary includes an exceptional variety of terrain! This program travels farther from Ottawa and is most suited to older elementary and high school aged participants, grades 5 and up. (Grade 4 may be considered... Contact Snowhawks to discuss.) No beginner-level ski classes are offered on the Laurentian Traveller. For novice through expert level skiers, half-day lessons by Snowhawks Instructors focus on refinement of technique, from fast-track to parallel for novice skiers, through to moguls, dynamic parallel and short radius for those at the expert skiing level. For beginner snowboarders, full-day lessons are available, while all other snowboarders have half-day lessons to develop from the basics through to advanced skills such as carving, freestyle and snowboard park. Advanced Upgrade Add-ons include Performance Academy and Instructor-In-Training. Plenty of free-ski/snowboard time with buddies, plus special events, such as synchro, a fun race, and more. A no-lesson option is available for those in grades 10 and up at the intermediate or advance ability level.

AGES 14+

Open to ages 6 to 11, the Performance Academy is a natural next step from our Gatineau and Laurentian Traveller programs — not because it replaces them, but because it builds on them. It's designed for skiers who want more structure, more coaching attention, and a stronger focus on progression, while still keeping all the fun that makes weekend skiing what it is. It's smaller groups, more time on snow, and consistent full-day coaching across all 8 weekends, focused on skiers who want to improve, ski faster, ski with better control, and potentially explore racing or higher-performance skiing in the future. What Makes It Different? - Small groups (max 5:1, often smaller) — coaches work closely with each skier throughout the day - A dedicated full-day coach for all 8 weekends, providing consistency, familiarity, and steady progression - Specialized race coaches Certified by ACA & CSIA from Ottawa Sports Alpine Club, our high-performance coaching and race program under the Alpine Access Corp umbrella Training focused on carving, control, speed development, and the technical foundations that separate good skiers from great ones - A tight-knit group of athletes all working toward the same goal — to improve, push themselves, and enjoy skiing Who It's For? This program is for young skiers ready for more performance-focused recreational skiing. If your child is starting to enjoy speed, is comfortable on steeper terrain, and wants to ski with more control and better technique, they'll fit right in. It's also a natural pathway toward racing or higher-performance skiing in the future, but the core goal is simple: building strong, confident, lifelong skiers who love the sport and want to keep getting better.

The Instructor in Training (IIT) group is for advanced skiers and snowboarders aged 14 and up who are interested in becoming nationally-certified instructors. It's a hands-on introduction to the world of teaching on snow — combining technique refinement with real apprentice teaching experience alongside Snowhawks' certified instructor staff. What's Involved? - Half-day lessons focused on refining your own advanced skiing or snowboarding technique - Introduction to teaching methodology — how to work with beginner through intermediate level students - Apprentice teaching opportunities working alongside certified Snowhawks instructors Available on both the Gatineau and Laurentian Traveller programs What Comes Next? Participants who complete the IIT group will be personally invited back by Snowhawks the following autumn to continue preparing for the Level 1 instructor certification course — the first step toward becoming a nationally-certified ski or snowboard instructor. Where our IIT graduates end up: Many past participants are now teaching with Snowhawks Ottawa and at mountains across Canada and beyond. It's a real professional pathway, not just a program add-on.
