For example, if skis, boots, and poles are all lost, you may claim skis OR boots, plus poles. Poles are the only item ever eligible to be claimed as a second item — no other combination of two items is valid under any circumstances.A standalone helmet rental — or any other single item rented on its own — is not covered by PEEP under any circumstances.Coverage is limited to one claim per season, per renter. A claim covers one item — two only when poles are involved, as described above. If more than one of skis, boots, or a snowboard is lost with no poles involved, only one of them is eligible — any additional losses remain the full financial responsibility of the renter.What PEEP does not cover:PEEP covers loss, not damage — physical damage to equipment beyond normal wear and tear is always the renter's responsibility, whether or not PEEP is in place. Removing PEEP means you are fully and solely responsible for the replacement value of any and all lost, missing, or unreturned equipment at all times — on and off program days. Program Enhanced Equipment Protection provides added piece of mind, and is already included in the price. Cancellation: PEEP includes one other added benefit: if you need to cancel your rental after your fitting and there are 50 or more days before your program start date, you are eligible for a 50% refund of your total rental cost. This applies to the rental only — not the program registration itself. This benefit is forfeited if PEEP is removed. No rentals can be cancelled within 49 days of the renters program starting. If you remove PEEP, no refunds will be given once a set of rental gear is purchased for a season.⚠ PEEP is included in all rental package prices by default. If you wish to remove it, this must be done at registration by contacting our office via email at info@snowhawksottawa.ca. It cannot be added or removed after registration is complete. Once we receive your request to remove PEEP, we will provide you a $45 discount code which reflects the PEEP removal.

Yes — at registration only. If you choose to remove it, a $45 credit will be applied toward your total rental cost at checkout. Keep in mind that ski hills are busy places. Skis get left unlocked at the racks, boards get mixed up, helmets walk off on their own — these are exactly the situations PEEP is designed for. Without it, the full replacement cost of any missing equipment falls to you, charged to the credit card on file. Removing PEEP also forfeits the 50% rental cancellation benefit available with 30+ days notice before program start. Once registration is complete, PEEP status cannot be changed in either direction. At $45 for brand new HEAD gear worth $670+, we strongly recommend keeping it. Plus, it's already worked into every rental package price!

Ski hills are busy, kids get distracted, and gear occasionally goes missing — whether it's skis left unlocked at the base, a helmet grabbed by mistake, or a snowboard mixed up with someone else's. Here's exactly how it works: If you have PEEP and gear is lost during a registered program day: Report it to your Snowhawks coordinator at the hill immediately — the sooner the better, as we can help look for it. If it can't be recovered, PEEP covers one piece of rented equipment per claim per season — or one pair, in the case of skis, boots, or poles. Eligible items are skis, poles, boots, helmet, or a snowboard. Any losses beyond what is covered remain the full financial responsibility of the renter. If you have removed PEEP: You are fully responsible for the replacement cost of any lost, stolen, or unreturned gear — regardless of when or how it occurred. The amount will be charged to the credit card on file. Damage: Damage to boots or bindings is assessed case by case and is not covered by PEEP under any circumstances. Normal wear and tear is expected and will not be charged. Gear not returned at end of season: Regardless of PEEP status, any equipment not returned by the program end date will be charged at full replacement value to the credit card on file. All renters sign a rental agreement acknowledging these responsibilities before receiving equipment. We keep this transparent and fair — we trust our families, and we simply need to protect the gear that makes this program possible for everyone.
